A Museum in Historic Kailua Kona on the Island of Hawai`i

Entry Hall

During the time of King Kalakaua the Palace was extensively remodeled. Lanai were widened, the exterior was stuccoed and the interior plastered. A marble bust of the King watches over the entry hall today.

On a trip to California, King Kalakaua acquired several redwood pillars. He used them as nonbearing decorative items in the entry hall.
